Afraid, By: Brooke Clifford
Written 6/12/03
Don’t be afraid,
Of the grass you walk on,
Of the air you breathe,
Of the water you drink.
Be afraid of nothing,
Not even fear itself.
Don’t be afraid,
When lightning strikes,
When thunder cracks,
When the rain is beating on your window.
Be afraid of nothing,
Not even fear itself.
Don’t be afraid,
You hold the mightiest weapons of all.
You hold your heart, you hold your inner strength.
Remember,
Don’t be afraid.

That's totally cool Brooke! Being afraid, or fear, comes from the mode of ignorance, so we should learn that we have nothing to fear in anything.

Brooke, you are wise beyond your years! Lovely poem, with so much truth packed into it...well-done, as usual!

PS: Was this an early Father's Day present for your dad? He's lucky he has you!

Gone
By: Brooke Ashley Clifford
7/31/03
She sat alone
her head towards the sky
wishing to be free
She may have wished too hard
or maybe it was too long
And one day she was gone
No one bothered to look for her
They didn't want to search
for the girl they never missed
She looked around her
she was finally free
She wandered around the empty space
wondering where she was
She saw the sun and stood there
wishing to have wings to fly
She may have wished too hard
Or maybe it was too long
and one day she was gone

Oh I like this one Brooke. Somehow you've said most by what you left out, if you see what I mean - leaves lots of places for the reader to go :)

I love the poem and what Wendy said rings so true. Your vision is fantastic.....The best part of this poem is what the poem leaves for ones imagination. Great Job!
Love,
Julie

I like that poem... it reminds me of the film "Picnic At Hanging Rock" which is similarly eerie about a group of schoolgirls in Australia (around 1900) who just disappear on a hiking field trip to Hanging Rock. That's one of my all-time faves, very cool.
