TOKYO (July 16) - Japanese scientists seeking to clone prehistoric wooly mammoths were preparing their first frozen DNA samples Tuesday in bid to bring the beasts back to life.

Remnants of what scientists think is from mammoth bone marrow, muscle and skin were unearthed last August in the Siberian tundra where they had been preserved in ice for thousands of years.

Researchers at the Gifu Science and Technology Center and Kinki University want to use the genetic material encased within the cells to clone a wooly mammoth, according to Akira Irytani, a scientist at Kinki University in western Japan.

But first, they must determine whether the five specimens brought from Russia on Tuesday are really from mammoths. If so, they must then decide whether the DNA locked inside is well enough preserved for cloning to proceed.

After that, it could take years to actually produce an animal.

``There are many different problems to overcome,'' the Gifu Center's Hideyoshi Ichibashi said. ``I think we can move ahead only one step at a time.''

Kinki University scientists, joined with veterinary experts from Kagoshima University in southern Japan, have searched for mammoth DNA samples since 1997 in Siberia.

Kinki University's Irytani was hopeful about the DNA samples, estimated at 20,000 years old, saying they had been well preserved well below zero.

Hmmm... much as I think ti would actually be rather cool to see real live Woolly Mammoths again, dont these scientist types seem to realise that theres a reason such creatures are extinct? Why not work on bringing back creatures such as the passenger pigeon or the Dodo - creatures hunted to extinction rather than dying out naturally?

What is this obsession with the physical form?

Allow the expansion to remind you that you are a Divine Spirit in Human form here to express your divinity for all to see and share. And on the out breath, radiate these same increased vibrations to all within your Path.
What you do for your Self, you do for others. Become conscious of your actions and words in the coming days and weeks and months. You are so very much more powerful than you realize. At any moment wherein you find your selves in conflict or judgment, fear or anger, step back to center and become conscious once more of the Divine Breath.
Connect with gratitude with the Source of All That Is and Be that same Breath. Start to honor all parts of this Being that you are. No longer hunger for anything other than what you already are at Source. Let the Source take care of the rest of it and just let it go. In the Divine Breath at the center of all that is, feel the energies merge as if weaving a fine tapestry within your Soul.

The Woolly Mammoths had their time, and were created by God. Man being so naive in his spiritual advancement, has not yet learned to love and respect others, to be able to "create" living beings that would advance and evolve. In short, all that man can do now as a 3D being, is create soulless monsters.
